Notes on mom's blue Noro sweater:
1. The pattern is called Round Trip, designed by Kay Dahlquist and available in the Fall 2003 issue of Knitter's.
2. Structurally, this is the most interesting garment that I have ever knit. The back is knit as one piece, upon which a garter stich band is affixed that will serve as the border for the entire sweater. The sleeves are knit as the final pieces, picked up and knit in the Dolman style.
3. There is no seaming. Yay for no seaming. Mom might actually wear this sweater someday.
4. The different textures (garter and stockingnette stitches) and the variety of stitch quantities for each piece really display the Kureyon nicely.
5. I cannot decide if this sweater is aesthetically interesting or just plain ugly. Or both. Sorry Mom.
A photo follows which shows absolutely nothing of the shape of the garment, just the lovely color changes and texture of the Kureyon. At this point in the knitting, there is no way to get a picture that would look even remotely like the final product. Stay tuned for real progress.
